Correspondence, subject files, administrative materials, photographs, publications, financial records, press releases and other materials that constituted the official records of the committee. Included are materials relating to surveys of children engaged in various forms of labor; statistics gathered on children's education, health, compensation, employment certification, and other matters; materials relating to labor legislation; annual reports and other published materials; questionnaires completed by school officials, employers and parents regarding child labor; reports of investigations into various aspects of child labor done by the committee and other agencies; and a large collection of photographs of child laborers, workplace environments and tenement life. Many of the photographs were made by Lewis W. Hine, noted photographer.

The 332nd Infantry Regiment was part of the 83rd Division, which was deployed overseas in June 1918. Lewis Wickes Hine (1874-1940), an American photographer, began his career as a teacher at the Ethical Culture School in New York City. He first used a camera to record activities at the school.
